Analyst / Programmer

Information about the role:

Develop software to agreed standards.

Contribute to both the technical and business aspects of any development specification.

Keep abreast of, and adhere to, ADP programming standards in the internal Developers Guide.

Keep abreast of industry trends and technologies which may benefit development projects

Keep abreast of kcml and associated toolset developments using the help references and technical forums.

Follow version control procedures and ensure that all work is secured and check that daily backup procedures contain all developed software.

Document development work to the agreed standard.

Report project progression to the team leader on an agreed basis.

Handover software to the relevant departments in sufficient depth for the software to go through the QA process, so user documentation can be developed and the software can be supported.

Assist in the resolution of problems with current or previously developed software functions.

Attend project meetings when required, internally or with clients, to gain or impart knowledge on the current status of projects and to document details when appropriate.


Information about the person:

A good technical degree with a bias to computer science.

Familiarity with UNIX and/or Linux

Knowledge of XML, XHTML and related technologies as well as a basic knowledge of networking.

Experience of software development in a language such as C++ or C#.

Experience of Object Oriented Design and the use of modern database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server.

Be able to demonstrate the ability to organise and present complex solutions clearly and accurately.

Be able to understand and interpret existing software solutions.

Be able to demonstrate expertise in interpreting business requirement specifications and design efficient software solutions to meet the stated requirements.

Be able to work under pressure to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
