Position: CORE Centre Engineer x 2

Information about the job:

To configure and test new equipment ready for shipment to customers.

To repair and redeploy faulty equipment returning to logistics stock from service calls.

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

The CORE Centre facilitates two task areas: Configuration and Redeployment.   Your job time is split between the two depending on the priority and level of work within each area at a given time.

 

Configuration Area Accountabilities:

•  To configure and test equipment by following documentation provided by the Product Specialist and to meet deadlines advised by the CORE Centre Supervisors

•  To notify the Product Specialist and the relevant CORE Centre Team Leader of ANY changes to, or required changes to, the equipment or configuration not covered in the documentation, and to wait for guidance from the Product Specialist/Team Leader before continuing

 

Redeployment Area Accountabilities:

•  To diagnose, repair and test any items requiring such attention after you have undergone the appropriate training, or by following detailed repair documentation, and to deadlines advised by the CORE Centre Supervisors

•  To analyse and evaluate new products as advised by the CORE Centre Manager

 

General:

 

•  To ensure that every product you have worked on that leaves the CORE Centre has been quality checked by yourself, and that any concerns are escalated to the relevant CORE Centre Team Leader or CORE Centre Manager prior to it leaving the Department.

•  To liaise with the CORE Centre Supervisors to be aware of Department schedules/priorities

•  To ensure equipment is ready in a timely manner

•  To escalate any problems to the appropriate CORE Centre Team Leader as required

•  To complete accurately all Department paper work, including electronic records

•  To inform the relevant CORE Centre Team Leader of any common fixes, part shortages or re-occurring product problems

•  To ensure personal tool kit is complete and anti-static strap is regularly tested

•  To ensure that ESD Precautions are followed at all times

•  To ensure that ESD Areas are kept free from food & drink at all times

•  To keep all work areas clean and tidy and maintain the end of day clear desk policy

•  To always work by the procedures documented in the Quality Manual and issued Performance Standards, and to highlight any discrepancies as necessary to your Team Leader

•  To assist in moving equipment, stock, spares and items if required

•  To undertake such duties as may be reasonably requested

Health & Safety:

 

You must:

•  Seek appropriate advice on Health and Safety matters where necessary

•  Co-operate with the CORE Centre Manager regarding the implementation of the Company Health and Safety Policy

•  Know and follow the Health, Safety and Emergency procedures applicable to the CORE Centre Department

 

All staff, under the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974, also have a general duty of care to perform their daily activities in a safe manner

OTHER FACTORS:

 

Liaison with Department colleagues and other Department personnel as required.

Prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are met.

To undertake the routine checking of all Anti Static material within the CORE Centre to current procedures and to maintain accurate records of such checks

 

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

 

Detailed knowledge of Departmental objectives and knowledge of hardware configuration/maintenance requirements.

A good knowledge of general electronics

Ability to work within a team and without supervision.
